Founder of the Champions Trophy and key figure in Pakistan hockey

Air Marshal M. Nur Khan, Ex-President of the Pakistan Hockey Federation  passed away on 15th December 2011 after a prolonged illness. Late Air Marshal M. Nur Khan made very valuable and tremendous contributions in Hockey in Pakistan. During his first tenure (1967-1969) that Pakistan hockey team won the Mexico Olympics and in second tenure (1976-1986) Pakistani team won Los Angeles Olympics. During his tenure Pakistan hockey team performed a grand-slam. The World Cup and Champions Trophy are the toughest events in hockey, and are brain child of Late Air Marshal M. Nur Khan, which will keep him alive in hockey as long as these two competitions are on the calendar. Being President Pakistan Hockey Federation, he donated World Cup Trophy and Champions Trophy to the International Hockey Federation. Hockey Wales – Senior Women and U21 Squad

Hockey Wales is the national governing body of sport for hockey in Wales. Hockey is an Olympic Sport and with London 2012 on the horizon we have a fantastic opportunity to drive forward Hockey across Wales with the launch of our 2020 Vision. Hockey Wales is a full and active member of both the European Hockey Federation and the Federation Internationale de Hockey. The Senior and U21 programmes will be run alongside each other for part of the year and then become discreet squads of players for competition purposes that have an age group focus. The Head Coach will be required to oversee both squads and once appointed will be involved in the appointment of Assistant Coaches and Manager(s). She wished to congratulate Jan Vymazal who was appointed as a University Professor and presented him with a gift. She also congratulated Anne Ellis on being awarded BBC Wales’ Sports Personality Lifetime Achievement award.
