With the morning opening games nerves out of the way, it was time for the teams in Pool B of the EuroHockey Indoor Champions Cup to try and push forward to secure semi-final slots, or at the very least still be in contention on Saturday.
Game 5 – East Grinstead v Grunwald
It was a ‘cat and mouse’ game as both teams exchanged the lead and drew over the course of the game! EG thought they had the winner in the final minute but it was deemed to not be a goal following an appeal from Grunwald, so in the end the draw 3-3 remained and put them top of the pool with 7 points (5 earned in their earlier tight win over Complutense), but they had to wait for the next game to see would they stay top!

Game 6 – Complutense v – Arminen 2 – 4 (1 – 0)
In a well matched game of speed and skill Complutense took on Arminen in the last Pool B game of today. Two very skilful sides lined out and were very evenly matched both defensively and on the attack. Ricardo Sanchez opened the scoring for Complutense with a cheeky intercept in the 5th minute and a beautiful finish! In fact that was the only score of the first half. In the 22nd minute as Manuel Grandits slid in to the top of the D to flick home. A 2 v 1 allowed Antonio Sanz Del Campo enough space to beat the keeper and slot the lead home again, but that was to be Complutense’s only goal of the second half as Arminen equalised vi Philp Schmidt in the 30th minute with an impressive finish, Dominic Uher and Michael Minar both slotted home well worked corners to bring the score to 2-4 in favour of the Austrian’s and that was how it finished.
With a one goal better goal difference Arminen knocked Grunwald off the top slot in Pool B. Suffice to say this pool is tight and all to play for in the final session in the morning.

Game 7 – Luzerner v Slavia Praha 1 – 3 (1 – 2)
An early goal from Jakub Kyndl from a PC put Slavia ahead. Martin Greder equalised in the 13th minute – another PC and a direct strike. Kyndl got his second of the game on the 18th minute with a low hard drag, putting Slavia ahead again. The Swiss opted for a power play, but without a keeper, Slavia scored their 3rd and final goal in the 39th minute, David Vacek taking a slap shot from a tight angle. Slavia finish the day 3rd on 5 points.
A tasty fixture to end the day here in Hamburg with some unreal individual and team skills on display. Having been subdued in terms of scoring in the first game of the event, Michael Korper let rip after 2 minutes and buried his first attempt at a PC goal, taking the hosts into and early lead. He doubled that lead with another PC in the 7th minute, a low powerful drag beating the Swedish keeper. Partille pushed up and clawed one back in the 11th minute Partille turned over the ball in their own circle, Karl Hemvik made the run and positioned himself perfectly to score. Minutes before the half a long ball made it’s way to Korper’s stick in the circle and he earned his hat-trick! The score was 3-1 in favour of the hosts. Partille pushed hard again and were rewarded in the 27th minute as Henvik was on target from a PC. With the scoreline 2-3 heading into the last 10 minutes, the game was wide open until a moment of magic from Korper in the 30th minute, which saw him turn over the ball from a Partille PC and waltz down the pitch to score and incredible sole goal!
