Lithuanian Hockey gets a opportunity to showcase hockey in the Siemens Centre in Vilnius

Posted On 23rd February 2011

Last weekend in Vilnius entertainment center Siemens, for the first time in city’s  history a sports fair was held.  27 sport federations and sport clubs presented their sports.

At same time and place only in main hall was MHP wood log lifting competition and Lithuanian and World strongest men’s competition. All this was transmitted by EuroSport TV. About 4000 people attended this event.

Hockey was presented by LHF and Vilnius HC “Zuvedra”. Hockey stand was “richest” with all equipment, medals, pennants, and posters from all tournaments in Lithuania and most important with Cup’s that Lithuania has brought from European championships.

From EHF Grant for 2011 LHF made leaflets, which were printed with EHF and FIH logos, in addition to a history of hockey, a short description of the rules, equipment etc.

We had also opportunity to show highlights from EuroHockey men’s league and video “Hockey for everybody” made by FIH on big Siemens center screen, which was broadcst around the entire exhibition.

Around 3000 people visited the hockey stand.

Good news for the hockey family! 45 girls and boys U-10 have written down contacts and shown a willingness to attend the trainings for the club “Zuvedra”. Adults were also interested in our sport and have written down to trainings together with kids.

Some Municipality representatives and politicians have visited hockey stand, witch have also made some photos with “Zuvedra” hockey players: Ugne, Giedre, Jolita, Julija, Tomas, goalkeeper Tadas (6 hours he was in goalkeeper equipment!) and coach Maksim Tarasov.

EHF Executive Board member was present at this event, missing the opportunity to attend the FIH Indoor World Hockey Cup, but a price he was prepared to pay for such a successful promotion of hockey in Lithuania.
