Ireland v Canada – Irish Squads announcement

Posted On 30th March 2011

The Men’s Irish National Team will take on their Canadian counterparts in April as they take part in a three match test series. The series will commence on the 17th of April 2011 at the National Hockey Stadium, UCD, Dublin and will continue in NICSSA, Belfast on the 19th and 20th.

The squads for the series has been announced and Paul Revington, Men’s National Coach, spoke of the forthcoming test series and his selection “These test matches against Canada come at a great phase and time in our program. Our squad will be re-united after two months of involvement in their club programs with all players returning highly motivated to add their quality to our Ireland path through Test match performance. The series also has the potential for new caps as the squad pushes hard to create a larger base of international players across Ireland.”

Players participating in the Irish Senior Cup Finals weekend (semi finals included) will NOT be considered for selection for game 1 against Canada in Dublin. This decision was made to ensure primary focus is on the ISC Finals weekend and therefore qualification for the EHL in 2011/2012 season.

Players participating in the EHL weekend will only be available for game 1 against Canada and players participating in Dutch/Belgium/Spanish league games on Sunday 17 April will be expected to fulfill these club commitments and therefore have not been considered for selection in game 1.
