Croatia Hockey mourns the loss of Branko Besednik

Branko Besednik, 87 Yrs old, the Croatian Hockey Federation Honorary President since 2008, and the CHF President in the several terms of office, suddenly passed away. He was the all around player and the leading official in the Zagreb, Croatian sport and Yugoslav Olympic Committee, for ages. His favorite sport was the field hockey since his schooldays.
Several decades he was the president of the HC Marathon, established at 1914, the multiple championship of the Croatia and Yugoslavia, outdoor and indoor, National Championships respectively. He was the key person in the development stages of the Zagreb Hockey Centre, especially during the era of the natural grass pitch at the main ground.
For his sport achievements he got many awards, among them, the Zagreb City Sport Award 1976, the Croatian Sport Culture Union Trophy 1986, for his life and work, and others.
The numerous friends and the Croatian hockey family members, took part at the majestic funeral which was held at the Zagreb Mirogoj Crematories on the Thursday 5th January 2012, saying him thanks for everything what he done for the Croatian sport and Field Hockey respectively.
