A lot of the Irish hockey community may be aware that Chris Pelow (aged 24) recently underwent surgery in Australia to amputate one of his lower legs in order to prevent the further spread of a very aggressive tumour which had developed in his foot.
His parents, Ronan and Suzanne flew out to Australia to be with him during this very difficult time. His club Corinthian HC have received many enquiries about how best to support Chris and his family, and so they have established the Friends of Chris Pelow Fund as a way for the very many people who know Chris and his family to show their support.
The LHA has very kindly agreed to allow clubs which wish to help out, to take up a collection at all home games on the last day of the season, next Saturday 31st March. CHC will provide participating clubs with collection packs including a collection box, posters and bank lodgement details.
There is also a PayPal facility on their club website www.chc.ie for those further afield who want to make a contribution.
Every penny raised will go to the Pelow family to help them defray those costs like travel and accommodation which insurance doesnt cover, and to help Chris with his rehabilitation.
