Showdown in Austria

Posted On 18th June 2012

Next weekend the Rohrmax Final Four 2012 takes place in Vienna, Austria.
The best four teams of the women’s and the men’s league are fighting for the Austrian crown. The tournament starts on Friday, June 22, with the semi finals of the men: at 16:00 SV Arminen, the host of the finals, challenges Post SV, at 19:00 AHTC, last year’s champion, is playing against WAC. The winners will meet each other on Sunday, 18:00, in the final of the Austrian championship.
The women’s are playing on Saturday, June 23 – the duels are SV Arminen vs. AHTC (15:00) and HC Maxx Stahl Wels vs. Post SV (18:00). The final will be played on Sunday at 15:15.
There are a lot of changes in the Austrian Hockey Federation going on. After Nitan Sondhi, former assistant coach, took over the position as head coach of the Austrian women’s national team from Marcin Nyckowiak in May, the Austrian Hockey Federation and Frank Hänel, former head coach of the Austrian men’s squad, are separating as well. Now the Austrians are searching for a new head coach that can continue the glorious work of Frank Hänel. You’ll find more information about the job under „Get and Give“.
