Day 2 at the EuroHockey Indoor Championships at the K2 centre in Crawley, England.
There was much at stake today as the semi-finalist would be determined by the morning games.
Harvestehuder THC – Kolos-Sekvoya Vinnitsa 12-4 (7-1)
Harvesthuder dispensed with Vinnitsa with a very comprehensive 12-4 win. The strength of the win opened a door indeed for the Spanish team Complutense to potentially earn a place in the semi final.
C.H. SPV Complutense – Hockey Club Valenciennes 9-6 (8-3)
A cracking first half saw the Spaniards come to life and show their class in a intense game. Whilst they were 8-3 ahead at the half the French refused to capitualte and pushed them hard in the second half, but the Spanish kept their noses ahead and were thrilled to be
in the EuroHockey seli-final.
Partille SC – Dinamo Yekaterinburg 3-11 (3-3)
Dinamo, already qualifed for the Semi-final were clearly fired up to ensure that they topped the group. Hat tricks from Sinyagin,
Spichkovskiy and Nikitin.
Racing Club de Bruxelles – East Grinstead HC 6-5 (4-3)
In front of a pretty packed house the hosts and RC Bruxelles had one target a win and semi-final place. In fact a draw would have
been sufficient for the hosts. It was an incredibly tight game with goals being exchanged from the 6th minute of the game when Stott opened the scoring for East Grinstead. Condon doubled the lead in the 11th minute but the Belgians were nipping at the heels of the English finally going ahead just before half time courtesy of De Mot allowing RC Bruxelles to go into the break 4-3. Mouth watering second half with small errors being punished. Neither team went ahead more than one one and the game was taken to 5-5 via Niall Stott in the 37th minute, but De Mot scored his final and what proved to to be the winner. EG won a corner on the hooter, and a subsequent stroke, but they failed to convert and RC Racing are in the semi-final and East Grinstead are in the Relegation Pool.
