Day 1 – EuroHockey Indoor Club Cup in Cambrai

Posted On 21st February 2014

Today in Cambrai the day finished very close in both pools with teams on the same points.
We started with Club de Campo winning 3-1 over Wels of Austria, with both teams having chances in the match.
Berliner were in good form in their win over Sumchanka leaving them in pole position after the first round of matches.
Pool A then started with Amsterdam H&BC beating Victorya Smolevichi 5-1 in quite convincing style under the tutelage of coach Alison Annan.
Then it was the turn of our hosts Cambrai to take on Slavia Praha with a good crowd shouting support to spur them on, but it was a tight match with goals matched strike for strike which resulted in a 3-3 draw.
On to our afternoon fixtures and MSC Sumchanka found better form and managed a convincing 6-2 win over HC Weloc Wels.
Next up was a very tight end to end encounter between Berliner HC & Club de Campo with both side having chances but not following through.  This left us with a draw (0-0) at full time.
Pool B finished with Club de Campo and Berliner on 7 pts each with only GD separating them, so tomorrow’s games will prove important to both teams.
Pool A resumed with Slavia Praha taking on Amsterdam H&BC  in what most people assumed would be an easy match for the Dutch team, but this turned out not to be the case with SK Slavia Praha winning out 5-3 against Amsterdam H&BC who seemed unable to take their chances.
Hosts Cambrai HC completed the days matches in another full hall with what seemed to be an easy 6-0 win over Victorya Smolevichi.
This leaves Cambrai HC and SK Slavia  Praha with 7pts with Amsterdam H&BC having to give their all against the hosts tomorrow for a semi final spot.
