Executive Board Meeting Bulletin
The Executive Board of the EHF met for the first time in 2014 on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th March.
There was a full attendance of the Board over the two days (and evenings) with extensive and fruitful discussions and debates on the topics outlined below.
Reports were received from the following committees:
- Competitions Committee – Outdoor,
Venues were approved for
2015 EuroHockey Championships II, III, IV (Men)
2015 EuroHockey Championships II & III (Women)
2015 EuroHockey Youth (U18) Championships I, II, III (Men & Women)

They also received a report following a review of the EHF Calendar with regard to EuroHockey Junior and Youth Championships. This discussion was in response to the change of date of the Junior World Cup from 2017 to 2016 and the potential consequences of this change on our calendar.
A report was presented on a proposed reviewed format of the EuroHockey Youth (U16) Championships which was prepared by the High Performance Group. This will be discussed further at the next Board meeting in June.
- Competitions Committee Indoor
A full report following the 2014 Indoor season was received. 43 National teams and 52 Club teams participated.
- Euro Hockey League
A report was received with regard to a proposed new format for the Euro Hockey League for season 2014-2015. This will be published post the next EHL Board meeting.
- Appointments Committee
The appointments committee noted concerns on the high level of late withdrawals which took place during the Indoor Season – in particular for Women’s tournaments.
It was also reported that the nomination window for Indoor 2015 officials and umpires is now open and will be open until 18th April.
- Development Projects Committee
The Board approved the Committee’s recommendations for:
-Awarding of National Association Development Grants
-Club of the Year 2013 Award

- Education Committee
Updates on activities for 2014 of the Officials Working Group, Umpires Working Group and Coaches Working group were received. Activity is under way for the year in all three areas.
- Communications Committee
An update was received on the new EHF website which launched in January and the ongoing work of the Communications committee. The 2014 Handbook is now on the website with all the relevenat and useful contact information and history.
A report was received from the President on the most recent discussions with the FIH Executive Board.
The Director General presented:
- An updated report from the Disciplinary Commissioner
- An update on the Continental Federations Report for the FIH and the Continental Federations’ meeting.
- Updates on the EuroHockey Championships 2015 in England and the 2017 bidding process.
- Updates on the EHF Strategic Plan and FIH MOU.
Gifts Updated
The Board reviewed and approved a range of three levels of new gifts for presenting at our competitions and dignitaries.
The Hon. Treasurer presented the accounts for 2013 which are slightly better than budgeted.
