Following the announcement that the FIH Junior World Cup has been moved from 2017 to 2016, the EHF Executive Board and Competitions Committee – Outdoor looked at the best way to approach the qualification from Europe.
A complete rescheduling of the U16, U18 and U21 calendar for the EHF was examined, but it was agreed that making significant changes to these schedules would not improve the talent development for which these age groups are mainly playing.
Therfore, after careful consideration, it has been decided that the 2014 EuroHockey Junior Championships will be the Official European qualification tournament for the 2016 Junior World Cup.
Men’s Junior World Cup – Qualifying teams will be from the top 6 Junior Nations from the Junior EuroHockey Championships 2014.
Women’s Junior World Cup – Qualifying teams will be from the top 6 Junior Nations from the Junior EuroHockey Championships 2014.
