Coaching Webinar 3 – GK skills

Posted On 27th May 2014

23 coaches from 15 European Nations linked online to be part of EHF Webinar 3 2014 last night.
Roger Newcombe – England U18 Manager and consultant GK coach led discussions concerning the skills needed by top goalies when defending short corners.
Distance out from the goal – direction of the move- hand, legs, feet and body skills were debated alongside the need for bravery, agility and ballistic power.
Roger stressed that the goalie should lead a team within a team (i.e. short corner defence group) and stressed the need for repetitive and progressive practise
Roger Newcombe
EHF wishes to thank Roger for a very interactive and interesting presentation and thanks England Hockey Board for offering his services
EHF Education Committee’s next webinar for our TCP and C4E coaches takes place on 23rd June when Dutch Master coach Nobert Nederlof will present a workshop on the development of key basic skills
