Final Pool Day at the EuroHockey Club Trophy and Challenges – Women

The Russian Champions proved their pedigree with a marginal win over Loreto to claim the first Final slot. Heavy showers dogged the day and forced some stoppages. But play did go on and the hosts Leicester made the final, again by the smallest of margins with a 1-0 win over Sumchanka. Royal Antwerp and Complutense played a feisty final game of the day, and draw being enough for the Spaniards to face Loreto tomorrow in the 3/4 playoff…

EuroHockey Club Challenge I, Women, Catania
Day 3 and Grodno knew that they need a win to have a shot at a promotion place! A 5-0 win over the ladies from Clydesdale though wasn’t quite enough for the top slot as Wellington also won their final pool game and edged past Grodno by a point. In Pool B the hosts had a solid win over their Italian compatriots of HF Lorenzoni which means they avoid the strong Belgian girls in their promotion game tomorrow and instead play Grodno.

Gintra, keen to avoid relegation came out of the traps with their A game and a comprehensive 10-0 victory over Baglum means they have another bite at the cherry of staying in the Division tomorrow. Swansea, Lambersart, Arminen and HC RWW are all in contention for promotion depending on their final game tomorrow.

The day began, as always, with the installation of support equipment of the tournament, with nice and warm weather.
Match nr. 1: HC Imittos x Eagles HC, with the final result 0 – 3. Match nr. 2: Highway Hockey SC x Sport Club de Porto. The Turkish team dominated the game and started to build the result early in the first half. The final was result 6 – 0.
