It’s a friendly 21 degree day today in Vienna as the EuroHockey Youth Championships Under 16 gets underway in the Prater Park.
8 teams will battle it out over the coming four days to be crowned Champions of Europe!
Russia, Belarus, Poland, Czech Republic, Croatia, Italy Ukraine and of course the hosts Austria.
For most, if not all of these boys this will be their first exposure to a EuroHockey official Tournament and one can only imagine the mix of nerves and excitement as they stand for the countries anthems. All their hockey lives have been building for this moment, to walk out and do their very best for their teammates and their country.
We applaud their efforts and their passion for hockey and wish them well as they live their dream.
We also wish our Volunteer officials, who have taken time from their busy lives to ensure that these young men are given the opportunity to play EuroHockey events in a fair and professional way.
We thank the Austrian Hockey Federation for once again hosting! The Prater park is truly the hockey home for EuroHockey junior tournaments, as they host every year without fail. Fans, parents and teams are assured of a wonderful welcome in Vienna!
