Gold medals and a promotion to the EuroHockey Championships in 2016 were the prizes won by the Swiss team at the EuroHockey Championships II today in Vilnius.
In a cracking game of 12 goals, 7 of which came in the second half.
Switzerland went ahead via Stomps in the 10 minute with Azerbaijan equalizing just before the half. The Swiss took back the lead a minute later taking the half time score to 2-1.
The Swiss remained ahead for the rest of the game but Azerbaijan never let them go further than one goal until the 52nd minute when a busy spell in from of the Azeri goal and a scoreline of 6-4 by the 50th minute, when the Swiss boys dominated the final 10 minutes to finish 8-4. Azerbaijan are also promoted, so not a bad consolation prize!
