Spain Women win opening match against France
The women of Spain and France opened the Fintro EuroHockey Junior Championships 2014 in Waterloo. Spain dominated the entire first half with several shots on goal. French goalie Petriaux managed to keep the Spanish team from scoring for a long time, but 2 minutes before half time Carola Salvatella put Spain in the lead 1-0. Spain kept putting pressure in the second half, but didn’t manage to pass Petriaux again.

England Women top the Pool B after their opening game
In the second game of Pool B at the Fintro EuroHockey Junior Championships Russia took advantage of an early chance via a beautiful strike from Elena Sazhina. England were awarded 3 short corners but failed to score until the 34th minute England’s Stephanie Addison equalised finding herself free on the back post giving the Russian keeper no chance. The score remained 1-1 at half time. In the 44th minute, England went ahead via superb drag flick from Grace Balsdon. After that England put the Russians under pressure and dominated, but couldn’t get past the Russian defense. The final score was 1-2.
