Slovakia – Gibraltar 2:2
Amazing performance by Gibraltar again. They look strong and playing with big hearth. In a first game of the second day they made another surprise and didnt lose again. And the opponent was Slovakia – team with ambitions to go up have lost first points after the draw. We have seen first half with more ball on Slovak sticks, but it was Gibraltar who scored the first goal. 4 minutes before the end of the half James Darby made a big shot and Petras was unable to stop the ball. Slovakian team came motivated from changing rooms and scored a goal after 5 minutes in the second half – Adrian Augustinic was the lucky one. But Gibraltarians came again with a fast answer – just after 8 minutes scored from the penalty stroke the „big man“ of the team – son of Nathan Stagno, FIH umpiring star – Kayron Stagno. Slovakia was pushing hard to came back, but was able only to equalize the game – in the 64th minute, captain of Slovakia Tomas Romanec put the ball to the goal from the penalty corner. Final score was 2:2 and deserved by both teams.
Azerbaijan – Turkey 1:3
Hot weather, hot game, nice goals. This was what we have seen in Fararstvi Arena in Hradec Kralove. Turkey was the better team during the whole game and deserved to win. Spectators have seen goals only from standard situations – 3 from corners and 1 from stroke. Onur Acikgoz was successful twice from PC and the third goal of Turkey was scored by Vakif Kilinc from a stroke. Azerbaijan scored its only goal 2 minutes before the end – Kanan Shirinov didnt give any chance to Alpaslan Bozkurt, but it was only cosmetic change of the score what didnt have any influence for the clear winner of the game – Turkish team.
Czech Republic – Lithuania 4-1
Hard fight, great atmosphere, amazing spirit. Czechs had a really difficult opponent in Lithuania. They played with the ball, had lot of chances, penalty corners, but Lithuanian goalie Tadas Bosikas was really cool and always on the place where he can stop the ball. And, surprisingly, it was Lithuania who scored the first goal of the game – just shortly before the leaving to changing rooms – Kornelius Zitkevicius made smile on lithuanian faces. Czechs had lot of to talk about during the halftime. Coach Ludvik was really not happy, but stayed positive and the players were listening to him. REsult of the long halftime speach came fast. Czechs scored 2 goals in ten minutes – Slavia Prague youngster duo Svaton and Rozhon were the lucky guys. When „Kangaroo“ from Bohemians Prague Lukas Plochy scored the third goal for hosts, the amazing crowd went mad! And the best action of the day came just 20 second before the end. Czechs showed amazing team work and after a brilliant pass from the Czech captain Lukas Nocar, Jan Zelezny was on the right place and deflected the ball to the corner of the lithuanian goal. Final result 4:1 was just a picture of what we have seen on the pitch in the second half – deserved win for the Czech team!
