26/07/2014 Spain beat Poland to finsh 5th at the Fintro EuroHockey Junior Championships here in Waterloo.
A disappointed Spain, who had targeted a semi-final slot for this Championships, nevertheless were determined to at least finish 5th.
It was a fairly lethargic start from both teams, with the look of heavy legs, with the shout coming from the Spainish bench ‘more passes’, which seemed to be taken on board as the half time score was 2-0 courtesy of a penalty corner from GARRIGA Eduardo, Guim URSUL doubled their lead in the 34th minute and they led 0-2 at half time.
The second half was all Spain, they were better all over the park and Poland struggled to keep their shape, but did keep their discipline and kept trying to play in spite of goals in the 36th, 40th, 51st, 54th minute, with one reply from them in the 64th minute from. Spain finished the game strongly with 2 further goals to end the game 1-8 in favour of Spain.
