U4E back for its second edition in Breda

Posted On 23rd August 2014

The Umpires 4 Europe programme is back for its second edition: 25 Umpires and 4 mentors from 20 different countries. On Friday everyone gathered to get to know each other, and the briefing was led by the chair of the EHF umpiring group, Paul Box-Grainger. During his presentation, Paul introduced the mentors for this year; Tom Goode, Tomas Hermann, JF Stappaerts and John Heron. Not only that, but Paul also played a rather funny video that was made by his filming crew that put everybody in great spirits.
The EHF was represented by its President, Marijke Fleuren and the EHF Education and Development manager, Norman Hughes. Some encouraging and inspiring words were said by them, which really made all the umpires feel that they are beginning a great journey.
After all the formalities were done, all the umpires together with the coaches and the officials enjoyed an amazing dinner at Push HC Breda’s club house, which offered an awesome atmosphere.
Saturday morning began quite early and a total of 32 matches were played during the day, which game all the umpires the chance to umpire some of the most promising young hockey stars in Holland. At the end of the day the hard work was done and a long awaited dinner was enjoyed by everyone.
We are all looking forward to Sunday!
A Big Hello from The Netherlands!
