The EHF Education Committee will hold an EHF/FIH Academy Level 1 in Komotini North Greece this coming weekend, 17 – 19 October.
Norman Hughes and Siegfried Aikman will conduct the course and also assess the delegates alongside EHF Assessor Antonio Antonov and FIH Academy Officer Mike Joyce. 20 delegates from 5 nations of South East Europe will take part in the programme which is designed to train coaches to coach players that are new to hockey.
This region of strategically important as across the border in Bulgaria a short distance away are good clusters of hockey teams and EHF hopes that Hellenic Hockey Federation will start new groups in this Northern region to twin with their Bulgarian neighbours. Not all delegates will pass the EHF Level 1 as it a competency based assessment but EHF hopes that a new breed of young coaches will energise the local communities with hockey actions.
