Sheila Morrow, Björn Isberg, and Erhard Hiessmayr received the EHF Diploma of Merit at 26th General Assembly. They received the Diplomas in recognition of their hard work and dedication as the EHF Regulations Working Group. Over the last year the Working Group have reviewed and revised the EHF Competitions Regulations ensuring they are accurate and up to date. The Regulations Working Group was originally made up of four members, the fourth being Guido Braca, recipient of the Diploma of Merit in 2011 and who sadly passed away. EHF President Marijke Fleuren outlined in her speech how their work was paramount in ensuring the Regulations were easier to follow and presented in a consistent manner.
Sheila Morrow
Sheila is a current member of the EHF Competitions Outdoor group, as well as Hockey Wales’ Board Director and GB Hockey Board member.
As a young player, Sheila achieved 112 caps for Wales, including participating in 5 World Conferences/Championships. She was captain of the Welsh team from 1981-1983, as well as captain of the GB team from 1980-1983.
She later became an umpire and official, with her crowning achievements so far including being an official at the 2012 London Olympic Games (including officiating the Final), and most recently, she was the Competitions Director for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Bjorn Isberg
Bjorn is a current member of the EHF Executive Board, as well as the Education, Competitions Outdoor and EF Regulations Working group. Bjorn is also a member of the FIH Umpiring Committee. Until 2012, he was also President of Swedish Hockey.
Bjorn was also and FIH umpire until 1997, and upon his retirement he became an Official. He continues to be one of the most experienced officials, and he has acted as TD in the Olympic Games in London 2012, has been the TD at the EuroHockey Championships in 2009 and 2013.
Erhard Hiessmayr
Erhard is a current member of the EHF Regulations Working group, and a former member of the FIH Equipment Committee, as well as a former Executive Board Member for the Austrian Hockey Federation. He is currently the General Secretary of Austrian Hockey.
Erhard had a brief career as a hockey player, but quickly became more involved in umpiring and officiating. He has been a tournament official since 2005. Erhard has had years of experience in sport management and sport event organisation. He, along with Sabine Billing, are the backbone of all tournaments which have taken place in Austria in the past ten years.
