Posted On 16th January 2015

The results of day 1 of the EuroHockey Indoor Junior Nations Championship II in Sveti Ivan Zelina set the tournament up very nicely with three teams dominating proceedings our hosts Croatia, the Czech Republic and Slovakia all playing fast flowing exciting hockey.

The day saw a total of 86 goals scored with the Czech team  recording the biggest victory of the day beating a young Norwegian team 23 -2, despite the score line the Norwegians worked hard throughout and committed themselves to a very difficult task.

Slovakia had a good day the hall as well beating Hungary 3 – 0 in the first game of the day and then going on to dominate Norway winning 10 -1 against a young team that had clearly learnt a lot from their first match.

The host nation  Croatia played with power and speed in front of their loud and enthusiastic fans winning their first game 0-8 against Hungary and then in the final game against a very hard working Wales team they excelled to win 10 – 1

The big game tomorrow looks set to be between the Czech Republic and Croatia and if the atmosphere today is anything to go by then it promises to be a very noisy day!
