Hosts Czech finish strongly at the EuroHockey Indoor Junior Championships with a good win over Switzerland and a 5th place ranking.

Switzerland v Czech Republic

In the battle for rankings here in Prague the opening game of the day didn’t disappoint with both teams competing for every ball. TRÖSCH opened the scoring for Switzerland in the 6th minute from a direct strike on a PC. CZE responded in the 17th minute, also a direct strike from a PC via BUBELOVÁ. In the 19th minute, Swiss were awarded another corner but a crucial save from CECHAKOVA kept the score 1-1 and so it remained at the half.

In the second half Czech won a corner in the 24th minute but the shot missed the target and the score remained 1-1. KOLAROVA scored a cracking goal in the 26th minute to put Czech ahead, flying down the left side and taking the early shot, beating the keeper. Swiss continued to attach via TRAVERS and BERLIE but the Czech defense held firm. NOVAKOVA  and HRACHOVA, the scorer of CZE 3rd goal connected beautifully in the 35th minute. For the last 3 minutes the Swiss team pulled their keeper, but the score remained 1-3.  This result ensured the hosts a 5th place ranking.
