The EHF congratulates The Netherlands on being awarded the 2nd European Games

Posted On 18th May 2015

The EHF congratulates The Netherlands Olympic Committee (NOC*NSF) on being awarded the hosting of the 2nd European Games.  The unanimous decision to give the Netherlands permission to organize the second edition of the European Games in 2019, was taken at an Extraordinary General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees in Belek Turkey on 16 May 2015. The NOC*NSF has mentioned hockey as one of the included sports.

The bid by the Netherlands is in line with the IOC’s 2020 Agenda and the EHF acknowledges the possibility to qualify in this event for the Tokyo Olympic Games.

The European Games represent an opportunity for our Member Associations to showcase hockey in their own countries and to continue to develop hockey within the Olympic Programme.

The EHF has no doubt that the hockey community and infrastructure already in The Netherlands exemplifies the professional and volunteer force being sought by the NOC*NSF.

We look forward with interest to the decisions of the NOC*NSF over the coming months.
