Hamburg to meet Royal Wellington in Trophy Final, Saturday at the Challenges – update

Trophy, Minsk – Day 3

Last pool day in Minsk and UHC Hamburg and Royal Wellington THC will battle for the top spot tomorrow. Atasport narrowly missed its chance by goal difference and will meet the host, HC Minsk for the 3/4 spots.

A close match up between Atasport and Belgium’s Royal Wellington. Atasport went ahead at the 12th minute, Wellingon equalised in the 27th. In the second half, Wellingon briefly managed a lead, but was quickly shot down by Atasport, who secured a tie. Atasport v Royal Wellington THC 2-2 (1-1)

Both teams with a tight defense, Sumchanka only managed to score in the 69th minute, securing the 5 points. MSC Sumchanka v Pembroke Wanderers 1-0 (0-0)

Real Sociedad managed to keep control of the most of the game, scoring 3 field goals and walking away with a needed victory. HC Metrostroy v Real Sociedad de Futbal SAD 0-3 (0-2)

Tough day for the host, HC Minsk.  A contested first half ended with Minsk up by one. Hamburg came in from the break with a vengeance and scored 5 times in a row. Minsk got one in before the buzzer, but the game was done, Hamburg are now at the top of Pool A. UHC Hamburg v HC Minsk 5-2 (0-1)


Challenge I, Vienna – Day 2

Another solid performance from Ritm-Azot Grodno. After being shut out during the first half, Catania rallied but it was not enough. Ritm-Azot secured its place at the top of pool B. HC Universitario Catania ASD v HC Ritm-Azot Grodno 2-4 (0-3)

Both teams needed a win after suffering defeats yesterday. The host came out swinging, cheered on by home crowd in spite of the heavy rain. 3 goals in the first half seemed enough to secure the victory, but Slavia Praha was determined to fight, and scored twice. A good effort, it was not enough, and Arminen’s Monika Specjal sealed the deal for Arminen with another goal. SK Slavia Praha v SV Arminen 2-4 (0-3)

A tight game, only a converted PC put Clydesdale ahead after 35 minutes. But Swansea’s Sophie Clayton levelled with a nice backhand shot. Clydesdale Western v Swansea City HC 1-1 (1-0)

A close first half, but KHC Dragons could not be stopped in the second half, where they scored 4 goals and cemented their victory. S.G. Amsicora ASD v KHC Dragons 1:5 (1:1)

Challenge II, Mérignac – Day 2

Clear blue skies in Bordeaux, where the host met Rotweiss Wettingen for the first match of day 2. Some good opportunities for both sides during the first half, but only Wettingen managed a goal. SAM managed to equalise at in the 57th minute, but Wettigen kept pushing and got the win. HC Rotweiss Wettingen v Sport Athletique Merignacais 2-1 (1-0)

Lille dominated in this match, but only managed to get a goal with in the 34th minute, scoring again one minute later. The second half brough 3 more goals, and Lille carried the match. Lille MHC v HC Olten 5-0 (2-0)

The last game of the day was a a very close one. Both sides pushed hard to get the upper hand, and Menzieshill had an early goal in the 3rd minute. Gintra equalised, Menzieshill scored again in 29th minute.  Gintra Strekte Uni HC v Grove Menzieshill HC 1:2 (1:2)

Challenge III, Prague – Day 2

Milder weather today in Prague, which was welcomed after the scorching hot day yesterday!

Eagles got off to a slow start, only succeeding with a PC in the first half. The break reenergised the Gibraltar side, as they won the match with another four goals in the second half. 5 points well earned. Eagles HC v HC Imittos 5-0 (1-0)

Unlucky for Tauras, who got off to a great start, scoring twice in the first 10 minutes. It all went downhill from there, however, as Turkish Champion Kecioren responded by scoring 3 goals in 10 minutes and securing the victory. Kecioren Baglum SK v HFTC-Tauras 3-2 (3-2)

Post SV dominated completely, scoring 9 times and easily earning the 5 points. Post SV v Nacka LHK 9-0 (3-0)

Very defensive match, but HC 1946 Praga walked away with a win with a goal in the 44th minute. Newport Gwent LHC v HC 1946 Praga 0-1 (0-0)
