The European Hockey Federation is proud to announce the 2014 Club of the Year winners:
Large Club of the Year 2014: Old Sihillians HC, England
Old Sihillians HC has shown tremendous development in the last year. Their player membership grew 46% in 2014, and they now have a ParaHockey Flyerz programme, as well as coaches and umpiring training. OSHC is also planning to build more infrastructure, with hopes to build a second pitch.
Medium Club of the Year 2014: HK Zelina, Croatia
HK Zelina has made significant strides. In 2009 the club had less than 50 members and was struggling. By 2014, the club had almost 300! It has played host to several EHF competitions and continues to grow with the support of the City of Sveti Ivan Zelina, who helped them secure a new pitch.
Small Club of the Year 2014: Grupo Desportivo do Viso, Portugal
GDViso is a small club with less than 100 members. However, their motto is: Together we are stronger! They have developed a program and have high hopes for the future of their club and hockey in their home city, Porto. By partnering with schools and clever use of marketing, GDViso hopes to continue growing.
EHF President Marijke Fleuren commented: ‘Congratulations to the 3 winners! I am extremely proud that all of you, each in your own way, have contributed so well and that you have really made a difference for your home communities! I would also like to thank the members of the EHF Development Projects Committee for their tireless work to come to the right decision.’
The Committee like to thank all the participating clubs and would specially like to congratulate the winners, who big or small, all make a huge difference in their communities and in the hockey family.
