GB, Germany and Ireland make it to the 1/4 Finals of the Hockey World League, Valencia

Posted On 15th June 2015

15.06.2015, Brussels: Today is a much needed rest day in Valencia after storms caused some delays to the Pool games at the Hockey World League Semi-final in Valencia. We  are delighted that three of the four European teams have qualified for the quarter finals, another vital step on the Road to Rio! The host, Spain’s fate is still up in the air and will be determined by the final pools games tomorrow.

In their 3rd pool game Germany drew with an up and coming strong USA team 2-2 and sit on top of Pool B, Ireland are 3rd in this pool, taking full points from South Africa and Uruguay. Both Germany and Ireland are in the 1/4 finals but their final position and opponents will be decided tomorrow.

In Pool A Great Britain has had the dream start with 3 wins from 3 and sit tidily in pole position. Wins over Spain, Argentina and Canada guarantee their 1/4 finish but a final game tomorrow v China will consolidate their final ranking and ultimately their opponent. Spain are on 6 points, but face the mighty Argentinians, a tough task, but the GB v China game is also vital to Spain.

It’s all to play for in Valencia tomorrow!
