In the tradition of the past years’ Nordic Caravan, this year Dansk Hockey Union invited HockeyMagic to hold three hockey clincs in the three different Danish hockey clubs, 27th – 29th June.
The main goal, as always with HockeyMagic, was to inspire young players. The caravan’s conductors, Tomislav Jamicic and Dick Besters sent us a report on the weekend’s activities.
The first club we visited was the largest Danish club, Slagelse HC, the smaller but family driven Kalundborg in the north of Sjaeland and HC Copenhagen who have a brand-new hockey pitch, only 2 weeks old!
Young players from other clubs joined as well, plus a large delegation of Swedish players stayed with the caravan for all 3 days. At each location we were supported by the local coaches, who did a great job with the HockeyMagic exercises.
The daily schedule featured different hockey games, some technical exercises with many variation and change-ups, and some tactical principles. The focal point of every day was learning the new ‘magic’ tricks, like Brasil, Windmill, Submarine and MagicGlue! The players were amazed and did not miss any opportunity to practice these new tricks.
On the last day of the caravan, we held a match: Denmark v Sweden. Not only was it a fun way to end the 3 days, but all the players showed marked improvement. We would like to thank all clubs and local volunteers, with a special thanks to Benny Berthelsen from Dansk Hockey Union. However, HockeyMagic doesn’t stop here. We go straight down to Slovakia for the next Caravan, July 2nd – 5th!
