Posted On 4th July 2015

04.07.2015, Brussels; As the spotlight continues at the World Hockey League in Antwerp, the EuroHockey Youth Championships, Under 18 gets underway in Minsk, Mori and Calais. For many of these players it will be their first taste of a EuroHockey Championship and no doubt many of them will be hoping to go on playing for their Nation and like their senior teams in Antwerp, achieve the ultimate dream of a hockey player, to play in an Olympics.

EuroHockey Youth Championships, II, Girls, Mori, Italy, 5th – 11th July:

Following a press conference yesterday, Mori is ready to host this important event. A great event is important for its tourist and economic repercussions, in addition to prestige of hosting this event. The local Government has been successful in creating a new field synthetic water based pith that has allowed the national team to train as well as enable the hosting of this event!

The favorites? “Italy and Ireland, probably” – says the coach of Ireland who attended the press conference – “although the weather might favor the national home, because certainly they are more accustomed to the temperatures.” The representatives of the National Italian prefer not to answer, probably worried about bad luck!

The top 2 teams will be promoted to the EuroHockey Youth Championships in 2017.

At the press conference held at the City of Mori the excitement is palpable. For Oscar Manzana, Secretary of the organizing committee, the tournament “is a great opportunity for the UHC Adige, for the territory and for economic operators”  while Marco Bisoffi, Chairman of the committee” It is this the best way to repay Province, Municipality and the Federation on investment two years ago in the construction of the new field; This is exactly the plan that we had in mind, making the investment in sport and and economic opportunity for the entire territory. ”
