EuroHockey Youth Championships II, Calais

09.07.2015, Brussels: Following a rest day it is Czech Republic, Switzerland, Italy and Wales who have made it through to the Semifinals.

Pool B :
Austria – Czech Republic 0 : 4 ( 0 :1 )
Switzerland – Poland 3 : 2 ( 1 :2 )
Pool A:
Italy – Wales 2 : 2 ( 0:1 )
France – Turkey 6 : 0 ( 3:0 )

Pool A:

Italy vs Wales: Wales needed to earn a point to secure a place in the Semifinal on Saturday. Strong start of the Team. Scoring the 1st Goal 3 Minutes before the Halftime with a Penalty Corner. Italy fought back and equalized early in the second half. An open game evolved with Wales scoring another Penalty Corner to lead 2:1. Italy never gave up and equalized 5 minutes to the End oft he Game. Both Teams earning their Semifinal qualification.
France vs Turkey: Close encounter in the beginning. France used their opportunities with Penalty Corners. Halftime Lead 3:0. France was able to keep up pressure and domination and extended their score

Pool B :

Poland looked to be through to top the Group B, but the Czech and Swiss Teams showed great spirit to win their Games on the final day of their group matches.
Austria vs Czech Republic : The Czech Team is great to use their chances scoring 4 Goals against Austria converting Penalty Corners and a Penalty stroke. Austria had lots of Penalty corners but were unable to score.

Switzerland vs Poland: Early lead of the Swiss Team with a Penalty corner scored in the 5th Minute. A great and balanced game developped with Poland taking the 2 :1 Lead at Halftime. The Swiss believed in their ability and were fighting as a Team and got a 3 :2 Lead just 20 Minutes before the End of the Game. Huge Pressure by the Polish team with 10 Penalty corners saved by the Swiss Goalkeeper and Defense.

Exciting Hockey again today. Very promising for the Semifinals on Saturday before a huge crowd in the beautiful „Stade the Souvenir“
