Lisbon- Day 1 EuroHockey Championships III, Men

Posted On 21st July 2015

21.07.2015, Brussels; The EuroHockey Championship III got underway yesterday in Lisbon.

Italy 5 Turkey 0

The first match of the Eurohockey Championship III was marred by two injuries, we wish the players a full recovery. Italy were always  more assertive on the attack with the Turkish team trying to defend strongly, but they didn’t create any danger to the Italian goal-keeper. Scorers: 1-0 – Agustin Nunez; 2-0 – Julian Montone; 3-0 – Thomas Keenan; 4-0 – Lorenzo Dussi; 5-0 – Daniele Malta

Wales 4 Portugal 1

Portugal didn’t have a good start. In the first half, Portugal seemed disorganized, paying the price of being a very young team against very strong and older players. Wales scored two goals in the first 35 minutes, the last one when the Portuguese keeper had been substituted after a problem with his helmet. In the second half, Portugal appeared more confident and faced the Welsh with a better attitude, David Franco scored the goal of honor, but the Welsh team scored two more goals counterattacking, it was a well deserved victory for Wales.

Scorers: 1-0, John Stephen Kelly; 2-0, Christopher Carson; 3-0, Rober Shipperley; 3-1, David Franco; 4-1, Benjamin Francis.
