Lisbon – Semi-Final Day as Portugal and Wales confirm their place in the final

SWE v TUR  2 – 8 (1 – 1) 

In the first games of the day Turkey outshone Sweden with an 8-2 win.

ITA v POR 1 – 1 (0 – 1) (0 – 2 SO) 

Portugal and Italy showed wonderful spectacle and skills, specially the young Miguel Rodrigues, an impregnable puzzle for the Italian right wing on the first half. In the second half, nevertheless the Italian goal, was the repetition of the first half, Portugal remained concentrated and Italy looked nervous.

Scorers: 0-1 – Carlos Silva; 1-1 – Julian Montone.

In the shoot-outs, Roberto Nogueira stopped four of the five, and Luís Tavares and Bruno Santos scored: Portugal will play the final, tomorrow.

WAL v BLR 5 – 1 (2 – 0)

Two goals on the first half gave the advantage to Wales, Wales were the better team than Belarus and it showed when the Welsh had possession of the ball.

Gareth Furlong missed a stroke in the second half but Wales continued on top. Belarus have grown a little, but the good Welsh control supported the Belorussian attempts until a fatal penalty corner to Belarus, 15 minutes to go. Wales extended their lead one minute later,(4-1), and in the last minutes the scoreboard read 5-1 (penalty stroke).A fair victory to Wales; the final will be played by Wales and Portugal.
