Sveti Ivan Zelina – Final Day at EuroHockey Championship III, Russia are Champions

Posted On 26th July 2015

25.07.2015, Brussels; The last day of the tournament started with sunshine in Sveti Ivan Zelina.

Lithuania – Russia 1-10 (1-3)
The first match between Lithuania and Russia was most important on the tournament because winner of this match is going in EuroHockey Championship II group. We hoped that it would be a tight match but Russians played maybe the best match on the whole tournament. They were dominant and controlled play throughout the game.

Croatia – Switzerland 3-1 (3-1)
The second game between Croatia and Switzerland started with heavy wind and distant lightning. Croatia was feeling refreshed after two rest days. They played more aggressive and ran much more then previous days. Switzerland started with goal but Croatian’s effort was soon to pay off. Halftime ended with 3:1 which was also a final score.

Prize giving ceremony was one of the shortest one we saw because of the thunderstorm that followed after the last match!

Final rankings:
1. Russia
2. Lithuania
3. Turkey
4. Croatia
5. Switzerland

Best goalkeeper: Viktorija Vileikyte from Lithuania

Best player: Petrauskaite Ramune from Lithuania

Best scorer (divided among three Russian players):
Fedorova Marina, Ivanova Tamara, Shamina Ksenia
