Umpire Managers’ Refresher Course in London, England

Posted On 24th August 2015

The EHF Umpire Managers’ Refresher Course was held at the Velodrome in Queen Elizabeth Park, London on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd August, 2015.

The course leader was Yolande Brada, with conductors Margaret Hunnaball and Juanma Requena running a session on using video clips for umpire development. The course was attended by eighteen umpire managers from across Europe and all were warmly welcomed by EHF President Marijke Fleuren.

The first day started with reflections on the role and responsibilities of the umpire manager. Time was spent considering how to get the best out of umpires, from beginners to those on the World Panel. Together the group reflected on effective briefings and the complexities of making appointments.

This was an invaluable opportunity for our umpire managers to come together to exchange experiences, reflect on best practice and consider areas to develop further. Every course member participated fully and played their part in making this a successful and enjoyable event.
