On Monday 24th August, EHF held a reception on behalf of its partners, Astroturf and Musco Lighting.
Over 25 clubs from all over England attended and had an opportunity to listen to some presentations and stay for the hockey of course!
Erwin Rutterman from Astroturf introduced himself and his parent company, Condor Grass as the new licensee of Astroturf Europe. As the name in artificial turf, Erwin highlighted Astroturf’s impressive past: from the very first Olympics where hockey was played on artificial grass – Montreal 1976, to the myriad of high level competitions that are today played on Astroturf pitches, like the 2013 TriFinance EuroHockey Championships and the 2015 Pan American Games. A strong past is necessary for a bright future, and Erwin spoke about Astroturf’s forward looking strategy.
After Erwin’s presentation, EHF Director General took some time to explain the EHF Musco Lighting Grant. The grant is an intiative started this year by EHF and Musco. A grant may be awarded for up to 15% of the total value of a new lighting system or and upgrade. Kevin Easton from Musco Lighting followed with a very interesting presentation that explained the differences between metal halide lighting and LED lighting. He also explained what makes Musco Lighting great: guaranteed performance, maintenance free and energy efficient lights. Kevin also highlighted Musco’s leadership in the technological innovation in LED lighting and glare control.
The presentations were followed by a drinks networking reception where all club representatives were able to ask questions and find out more about each product, followed by two cracking games of hockey, Scotland v Germany (W) and later, Italy v England (W).
