A special mention of our favourite WaDuck tweeter Victor Lockwood @ViviLockwood who keeps us informed of the team’s goings on and generally is doing super job as a Digital Ambassador for France (he’s a French International) and WaDucks (he’s playing there this season. He’s pictured below:
As the dominant Finnish club, played a Masters game and won 2-4 v The Rest of Finland. A fantastic event, which gives Masters players in Finland the chance to get together, play hockey and enjoy a weekend together! A real sense of ‘hockey family’ and a good base to build for their orgranisation of the important EuroHockey event which we are really looking forward to!
Gibraltar Hockey had a very special guest on Saturday. EHF President Marijke Fleuren took time off from her holiday to go and see Grammarians Hockey Club take on Club Hockey San Fernando. Marijke was treated to a thrilling game with plenty of goals. Grammarians goals scored by Karl Lima x 2 and Carl Ramagge were not enough however, as San Fernando’s superior fitness saw them score 3 goals in the last quarter to take the game 7-3. The result however, did not spoil the day for all concerned, who were delighted with the visit from Marijke. Including the young promising umpire who officiated in the game, Ethan Pereira. At 18 he is the Secretary of Gibraltar and very proud of his EuroHockey shirt that he earned umpiring in Vilnius shirt last year.
What a fantastic start for the Junior team from KPH Raca Bratislava who travelled to an Invitational Tournament in Vienna and came away with Bronze medals!
A new team, with only 3 players from their team last year beat Wiener Neudorf in their first game, then had a draw 2-2 with a mixed team from AHTC and the hosts. Losing the semi-final was a disappointment but then they finished on a complete high taking the bronze medals… They are now looking forward to a great season and we are looking forward to more updates!
