After the morning session here in Prague at the EuroHockey Indoor Championships, it is Germany, Russia, Austria and the hosts Czech Republic who will challenge for the Final in this afternoon’s semi-finals.

In the early morning start the Swiss flew into the match with their German neighbours in big style when Greder stroke as first making it 0:1 for them. Germans showed their calm attitute and experience and turned the score to their advantage by Weinke and Hertzbruch to 2:1. Before the changeover they managed to score twice more leaving the half time score at 4:1 for them.
In the second half game continued in the same set up. Five minutes into the second half Germans managed to hit the net again by Woesch. The Swiss answered by a goal after an unusual mistake by German player in their front dee. That could not shake with the Germans as they added another goal few second later making it 6:2 already. After this the Germans locked their opponents in their own circle and added another goal to 7:2. In a rare attempt to attack the German goal the Swiss managed
to score from a short corner by Wullschleger. The final score read 7:3 for the Germans.

For both teams this was extremely important match as three points would secure place in the semifinal. Russians were the first ones to strike by Spichkovskii. Poland managed to equal the game by Majchrzak but Russians wasted no time and went to 1:2 lead when Zhirkov managed to hit the net. Polish knowing very well they needed to win decided to try power play but were punished by Spichkovskii again two minutes before the end. Russians adjusted the score to 1:4 few seconds before the final whistle.

Sweden faced Austria in the third match of the day. For Swedish players this was a decider, they had to win to secure their first points after losing to Netherlands and Czech republic. Sweden did finally hit the net by Melander. Few seconds later Austria answered with quick combination when Korper managed to score. By the end of the first half Austria managed to score twice more by Uher and Korper leaving the score at 3:1 at half time. In the second half Austrians raised to 4:1 by Minar. Sweden later added one more goal to 4:2 by Rydborn. Eight minutes before the end Sweden managed to score another goal to 3:4 and it all seemed as if a drama was on the cards. But Austria went ahead by another goal by Korper again, their best striker. He added another goal four minutes before the end making it 6:3. A minute before the end Austria went on to try power play but that led to no more goals.

In the final Pool game Czech and Netherlands played an incredibly tight game 0-0 at half-time. Czech went ahead in the 25th Minute via Štepan BERNÁTEK. The Dutch equalised in the dying moments of the game via a corner from Timmo KRANSTAUBER and the Dutch thought they were in the semi-final. But with 7 seconds on the clock Czech won a corner and then a penalty stroke which was slotted home by Tomas PROCHÁZKA, putting the World Champions out of the semi-finals and playing Czech into them.
