EuroHockey Indoor Championships II, Russia and Switzerland gain promotion

Posted On 24th January 2016

Russia and Switzerland are the top two teams who gained promotion to the EuroHockey Indoor Championships in 2018.

Both teams played eachother yesterday, on the third day of the competition, and Russia showed pitchwide domination in a very exciting match that ended 5-2.

The third place of the EuroHockey Indoor Championship II goes to France, who saved their honour against Lithuania (5-1). After two losses the day before, the French team showed their team work and their desire to win. Fourth place goes for Lithuania

In the Pool D relegation Pool the situation was tight. Indeed, after the victory of Scotland against England (5-3), Croatia’s only chance to finish second was with a broad goal difference in their match against Wales. The Croats won the match (5-3) but they didn’t manage to score enough goals to overcome Scotland.

Croatia and Wales are therefore relegated to the EuroHockey Indoor Championship III. England and Scotland remain in Championship II

During the Prize Ceremony, the local authorities were present, and thanked the teams, judges, referees and volunteers.
The Top Scorer Trophy ended up in a tie, between Karin Bugmann (Switzerland) and Valeriia Borisova (Russia). Finally, both Best Goal Keeper and Best Player awards were for Russia.
