16th March 2016: The EHF is delighted to announce to 2017 EuroHockey Championship hosts,venues and qualified teams.
Following much consideration by the Competitions Committee, Outdoor, and with the full approval of the Executive Board, the 2017 Championships will be held as follows. Participating nations have qualified for each division based on their final ranking from the 2015 competition. Pools will be announced later in 2016.
EuroHockey Men’s Championship (previously announced)
Teams: AUT/BEL/ENG/ESP/GER/IRL/NED/POL
Venue: Amsterdam (NED)

EuroHockey Women’s Championship (previously announced)
Teams: BEL/CZE/ENG/ESP/GER/IRL/NED/SCO
Venue: Amsterdam (NED)

A year on from the Rio Olympics, the hockey world will be looking forward to the clash of some mighty hockey titans, with no doubt some re-matches from Rio and perhaps some scores to settle… There will be a tantalizing match-ups, a fitting opener to the re-furbished Wagener Stadium!

In addition the KNHB is committed to spreading a legacy beyond its borders and to sharing their knowledge and experience with our Member Associations, in the build up to and during the Championships. EuroHockey Men’s Championship II

Dates: 6-12 August 2017
On being the awarded this event, David Sweetman, CEO of Scottish Hockey said ” Scottish Hockey is delighted to have been awarded the hosting rights for the men’s EuroHockey Championship II competition. The organisation is committed to supporting the objective of Scotland securing promotion to the Championship division in 2019 so hopefully providing a home advantage will help the senior men’s squad further its ambitions in this regard. Since the National Hockey Centre opened in 2013, we have actively sought opportunities to bring domestic, European and World level events to the city of Glasgow, with the objective of growing the sport’s profile and giving our athletes the best opportunity to succeed. We have also worked effectively in partnership with Glasgow Life, EventScotland, the International Hockey Federation and the EHF to demonstrate that Glasgow is a fantastic location for hockey supporters of all ages and that the 2017 Commonwealth Games hockey venue has a clear legacy.We look forward to welcoming all seven nations to Glasgow and Scotland in 2017.”

Slaven Zlatar, Secretary General, Croatian Hockey said “Getting to host both Men and Women EuroHockey Championships III 2017 for Croatian Hockey Federation means great honour but on the other side very big responsibility. We organized many EuroHockey tournaments before, but this is the first time that we are organizing tournament for both Men and Women at the same time. This tournament will speed up the process of finishing hockey infrastructure in Sveti Ivan Zelina. We are sure that the host town will do the best to build stands, club house and other hockey facilities before the start of a tournament. For Croatian Hockey Federation this is great chance to promote hockey.”
EuroHockey Men’s Championship IV

Sanja Kropec speaking on behalf of Slovenia Hockey said “As Slovenia is building the first water based pitch in Lipovci, it is a great honour, that we have been elected to host this important event, so we can present the pitch to the public. This also shows that development of hockey in Slovenia in going in the right direction. Our region is small and rural, so the clubs, players and fans are very connected and this event represents a huge opportunity for achieving common goals with the national team and representing the country.
EuroHockey Women’s Championship II

Hosting, and participating in major events is crucial to the promotion of our game to inspire the next generation.
