Surbiton and Canterbury take the honours – EHCCC

15th May 2016; England teams Surbiton and Canterbury take all the honours at today’s EHCCC. 

The day started at 10 o’clock. At that moment it was still quite quiet at SCHC. Around quarter to eleven the first match of the day began between Surbiton and Krylatskoye. Slowly but surely fans started to arrive at the venue.

Game 1:

CSP Krylatskoye 2 – 4 Surbiton HC

Soon after the start of the game a sign was fired, in the third minute, number nineteen Jennifer Woolven from Surbiton scored the first goal of the day.

The second goal, from a Naomi Evans penalty corner, put Surbiton in the driving seat. Two minutes before the end of the first half Russia scored their first goal. Bogdana Sadovaia scored this one. Later in the game she made the second and last goal for Russia. The final scored ended at 4-2 for Surbiton.

Game 2: 

Pegasus 0 – 3  Canterbury HC

The second and last game of the day started at SCHC at 13.00. Pegasus from Ireland was competing against Canterbury. Even though it was relatively quiet next to the field, the supporters were fierce and enthusiastic. Dirkie Chamberlain, number twelve from Canterbury, scored twice during their game. Between both goals made by Chamberlain her teammate shot a penalty corner in Pegasus’ goal, making it 2-0. The game ended with the scoreboard at 3-0 for Canterbury.

Just after the end of the last game, the Dutch rapper Lange Frans performed in the SCHC clubhouse. He made the audience participate and dance with him. The act ended with kids and even parents joining in a conga line through the clubhouse, which ended the day on a high.
