23rd June 2016, Brussels: What is #OlympicDay? #OlympicDay is a global celebration of the founding of the International Olympic Committee and the modern Olympic Movement by Pierre de Coubertain in 1894.
#OlympicDay is much much more than a sports event, it is a day for the world to get active, learn about Olympic values and discover new sports!
What better way to discover hockey than through looking at those who will be the 12th ‘man’ in the dying moments of a game, who will celebrate with you and are there for you on the days things didn’t go right!
Today, to celebrate #OlympicDay we have put together some amazing images of our Hockey fans all around Europe – be inspired by the hockey family, our Olympic values and get out there and be active!!!!!
In our featured photo you can see 3 of our very special Olympians, Santi Freixa, Teun De Nooijer and Natascha Keller, enjoying time with hockey fans.
Thanks to the FIH, with only 42 days to go until the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, hockey fans also joined in the Olympic Day celebrations at the women’s Hockey Champions Trophy taking place in London, Great Britain.
There, fans and athletes joined in a number of activities, including a giant crowd flag and as well as various social media activities with Olympians, past and present. You can see much more on the FIH Facebook, Twitter and Instagram channels.
