Day 2 #EuroHockey5s Future Heroes Cup, Prague

6th July 2016: At Day 2 #EuroHockey5s Future Heroes Cup, Prague we started the day with the girls and a comprehensive win for Italy v Bulgaria . Following the day of play it has become clear that the contenders for the semi-finals on Friday are Italy, who top the pool, followed by Turkey and Czech Republic. Once again we had an amazing amount of goals from 9 games, 105 in fact! 

Match 4: BUL v ITA 1-10 

Italy set out their stall early in the game with goals coming from Alessandra Sansone and then 4 from Federica Carta in the first third, the 6th goal from Ottavia Menconi in the 9th minute put the game beyond the reach of Bulgaria. However Bulgaria did compete and pushed hard to break their duck and get on the scoreboad, which the did via Ralitsa Ivanova in the 19th minute. Italy, aware of the need to top the group pressed on and brought the final scoreline to 10-1.

Match 5: CRO v GEO 2-3 

In a tight game, where both teams had chance to win, it was Georgia who went ahead in the first minute via Nato  SHOTADZE  and then a minute later Salmone NADAREISHVILI doubled the score. Ana ČOLIĆ slipped passed the keeper for Croatia, and in spite of 2 challenges to Croatia the score remained 2-1 at the break. The 2nd 3rd was full of action and just before the break both teams scored again, the score now 2-3 to Georgia. Croatia had another challenge in the 23rd minute but failed to convert and the final score was 2-3 to Georgia.

Match 6: TUR v CZE 3-4 

In an intense end  to end game it was the home team Czech Republic who took the 3 points from this game v Turkey. Turkey controlled the first 3rd, but in a lapse of concentration they allowed Czech back into the game just after the break. The 2nd 3rd was all Czech as the went ahead via 3 quick goals in the 11th, 12th and 14th minutes. The final 3rd was very even with both teams showing real skill and an understanding of Hockey5s, using the boards and the keepers were fully engaged in the game. Turkey got the break and equalised in the 28th minute, but a challenge in the last minute as a penalty for not being 4 meters, and Natalie Novakova secured the win for the home team.
