Under the leadership of our Technical Delegates , the well experienced Umpires and Officials will oversee the crucial games, just under 200 of them!

We had a one on one chat with the TDs at our top level events  to get an inside view of the Technical Delegates ahead of these important events:

13-15 January 2017 Indoor Junior Championship, Men Lisbon, POR

Casper Guldbrandsen on hearing of his appointment said “I’m delighted to be appointed as TD for the 2017 EuroHockey Indoor Junior Championship in Lisbon. Portugal along with Indoor Hockey has a special place in my hockey heart. It was in Portugal, Denmark and me as a player, qualified for the first time for EuroHockey Indoor Nations Championship in 1992. I have been in Portugal both as a player as an official I have always been met with open arms and a lot of people who are passionate about hockey.”

20-22 January 2017 Indoor Junior Championship, Women Vienna, AUT

One week later the ladies are on-show and their TD Sabina Zampeti said ” For me it is definitely a challenge, due to the short format of the Tournament which oversees a high number of games per day, but Indoor Hockey is the most exciting game both for players and fans, because we are all closer to the action!!  #bigboldpackedandloud”

Once the Championships are over we then move onto the intense and exciting Club events and again we were delighted that our TDs took the time to chat to us:

10-12 February 2017 Indoor Club Cup, Men Vienna, AUT

The men are first up and Christian Deckenbrock said: “To go to to a EuroHockey tournament as an official is always a great honour, it always nice to meet so many familiar faces. We have a good team in Vienna with experienced hosts and we will try everything to run the tournament smoothly on the technical side. It’s my second Tournament in Vienna, so I’m hoping for good weather and that the airport will be open and we can start on time!”

17-19 February 2017 Indoor Club Cup, Women Wettingen, SUI

Again a week later we are in Wettingen, and Elisabeth Fuerst, our TD there added  “I believe in the contribution event officials can make to creating a level playing field and an enjoyable tournament experience for all involved and to promoting our sport, so I’m excited and grateful for the opportunity to try and do this as an official at one of the EHF’s top tournaments. I especially enjoy indoor hockey tournaments because of their amazing intensity – it’s three days all in, all out!”

All accepted appointments can be seen under Appointments on our home page, click here.
