#EuroHockey5s – Italy in contention for the first EuroHockey5s title

8th July 2016: Italy in contention for the first EuroHockey5s title following a comprehensive win over Turkey. In Pool C Georgia pipped Croatia at the post 3-2 to ensure that they take the 3 points on offer. 

ITA v TUR 7-0

The Italian girls came out of the blocks in the first game of the Pool B games, with a determination against a tired Turkish side.

The went ahead 1-0 in the second minute and doubled their lead after 4 minutes. Once again they scored in the 6th minute and the first period ended 3-0. Then in a stunning display, current top scorer Federica Carta scored a hat-trick and doubled their lead. Turkey tried hard to come back into the game, but seemed all out of ideas and the final score was 7-0 with Ottavia Menconi scoring the last in the 27th minute.

GEO v CRO 3-2 

In a well matched game Georgia and Croatia faced eachother in Pool C, the lowest team will play in the EuroHockey5s Championship II, so avoiding relegation is the target of the teams. This result puts Georgia on top of the Pool and they face Bulgaria tomorrow! In a tight game with some very tired legs under a blistering hot day here in Prague both teams gave their all.
