#FridayFocus – EHF HockeyMagic Caravan on the road again

Posted On 8th July 2016

Tomislav Jamicic and Dick Besters have taken their caravan on the road once again! The EHF #HockeyMagic Caravan was in Hungary 23rd – 25th June and in Slovakia 27th – 29th June.

First Stop, Budapest!

For the first time in its history, HockeyMagic stopped in Hungary. For a lot of young players, this was an introduction to a new way of hockey training. 3 days of training with almost 40 players from 3 different Budapest clubs kept Tomislav and Dick very busy!

Some coaches also joined in the sessions where new and different technical skills, training games and some hockeymagic tricks filled the days. The players had different levels and differing age groups, but their motivation and enthusiasm was great, as they kept on training even in the 35 degree heat!

Below you can find a video made by the Hungarian Hockey Federation, showing some #HockeyMagic action and interviews with Dick and Tomislav!

Senkvice, Slovakia and #HockeyMagic

After a great three days in Budapest, the Caravan was packed up and moved to Senkvice, Slovakia. A good hockey pitch and some long-standing hockey clubs here made for a great atmosphere for the caravan. After last year’s first visit, this second visit brought 45 U14 players from 4 different Slovakian clubs, with some players travelling over 100km to join the fun. Ten local coaches also joined, to help coach the players and learn some new techniques.

Hockey basics, different scoring techniques, 3D skills and of course, hockeymagic tricks were all part of the programme for the three day stay. Each day started with an interactive meeting for the coaches and ended with debrief. Tomislav and Dick tell us: “For us, the conductors, it was good to have three days to work with the local coaches. That way we could get to know each other better and share experience and some coaching tools that we use in The Netherlands. There were some really good young talented coaches.”

The European Hockey Federation, Tomislav and Dick would all like to thank the local organisers in Budapest and Senkvice for all their hard work and for making this year’s EHF HockeyMagic Caravan a success.
