Continuing the Sharing Knowlege twinning programme, Sven van der Most was 12- 14 August in Lithuania to work with national squads, both men and women, as they prepare for their next challenge: World League Round 1 in Prague, Czech Republic on August 30th.
Sven spent three days with both squads, leading their training sessions and watching them play. He also observed several training sessions led by the Lithuanian coaching staff which led to some discussions and greater appreciation for how the teams work. Three days meant three separate training sessions, each one attempting to analyse and find best practice, as well as open a dialogue between coaches, staff and players. 34 players in the national teams participated, as well as 8 coaches from surrounding clubs and schools, who got to benefit from Sven’s visit and programme.Left to right: Maksim Tarasov, Head Coach of Lithuania Women, Leonardas Caikauskas, President of Lithuanian Hockey Federation and Sven van der Most
Sven tells us: “It was an amazing experience where I got to meet a lot of new and nice people. They work really hard to make their team a success; some players even driving for 3.5 hours just to train! I wish them all the best in their World League Challenge.”
Leonardas Caikauskas, EHF Executive Board member and President of Lithuanian Hockey said: “It was great to have Sven work with our players and coaches, who gained a lot from this weekend. A great benefit was that our physio and team doctor algo got a chance over dinner to discuss with Sven what their Dutch counterparts do in their roles and how they are an integral part of the team. We hope to see Sven back in Lithuania soon!
