EuroHockey5s U16 Championships 2017

The 2017 EuroHockey5s U16 Championships (Girls and Boys) will take place on the following dates at the venues stated. Participating nations have qualified for each division based on their final ranking from the 2016 competition.

Boy’s Championship – Walcz (POL) – 5-8 July 2017

Teams: AUT, BLR, BUL, CRO, DEN, FRA, GEO, GIB, ITA, LTU, POL, POR, SUI, TUR, UKR, WAL.

Speaking on behalf of Polish Hockey, President  Andrzej Grzelak said: “After hosting a successful EuroHockey5’s Future Heroes Cup U16 (B&G) at Olympic Centre in Walcz City we are very happy with the EHF’s decision granting us rights to host another U16 event at this venue.

We are sure that EuroHockey5s Championships will help us to promote hockey in Walcz City and whole Western Pomeranian region. We are looking forward for lots of positive sports emotions, wonderful matches and POL qualification to Youth Olympic Games!”

Boy’s Championship II – not be held (unless new entries are received)

Teams: MLT (1st reserve for Championship), FIN (2nd reserve for Championship)

Girl’s Championship – Wattignies (FRA) – 12-15 July 2017

Teams: AUT, BLR, CRO, FRA, GEO, GIB, ITA, LTU, POL, POR, TUR, UKR, WAL.

The French Federation is equally delighted to host, stating ” After a series of qualifying tournaments in 2016, the FFH and CREPS Wattignies are very pleased to welcome and organise the EuroHockey5s first girls championships qualifier for the Olympic Youth Games. This new game format is a very interesting way of development for the young players. The women’s tournament will help to better promote this new type of hockey that will be a great show and will allow young players to “have fun”. Considering a qualification for Youth Olympics will be also be a real challenge for our girls especially in front of their fans!” 

Note: The withdrawal date for all tournaments in this competition is 15 January 2017.
Any NA withdrawing after that date may be subject to a fine or other disciplinary action by EHF.
