#FridayFocus – Serbia supports hockey education

Posted On 4th November 2016

Last weekend (October 29), Serbian Hockey Federation and the Belgrade Hockey Federation held the ‘Belgrade Trophy’, a Hockey5s tournament. The BASK stadium saw Serbian teams from Subotica, Novi Sad and Belgrade alongside a team from Sofia, Bulgaria.

Before the tournament, Antonio Antonov, member of the EHF Development Projects Committee and member of the National Academy of Sports in Sofia had a meeting with the Dean of the Jagodine Pedagogical Faculty and Prof. Zivorad Markovic, who is the Head of the Sports Pedagogical Department. The visit served to promote hockey and discuss the possibility to include hockey as a future academic subject and discipline at the university.

Following the meeting, Antonio held a lecture with more than 100 students (physical education) on the topic of Field Hockey in pre-school and early school age children. . The lecture was followed by  practical session with a smaller group, which served as a demonstration for students and professors alike.

Make sure to follow the Serbian Hockey Federation Facebook page for more news on their progress. Many thanks to the city of Belgrade for their support here, as well as the hard work done by Serbian Hockey Federation, Belgrade Hockey Federation and of course, Antonio Antonov!
