If you need any motivation today, then have a read of the story below from El Periodico.com. It’s our #MotivationMonday story.
When people ask who should be in the EHF Hall of Fame, we say that those players already there speak volumes by their actions, on and off the pitch.
5 times Olympic Spanish player Pol Amat is in full support of a project created by the Catalan Hockey Federation that has created a hockey league for people with disabilities. This is a very inspiring example of how our sport is absolutely for everyone!
“This is an innovative and amazing project that allows everyone to enjoy our sport.” This is how Spanish hockey legend Pol Amat defines how the creation of this league will cause a positive impact. This league is being played in Catalunya in which 120 to 150 people with intellectual disabilities are divided in 12 teams. These players enjoy a full-on hockey experience with professional coaches and umpires from the Division de Honor (Spain’s top league).
The BBVA group, Pol Amat, the Fupar Foundation and the Catalan Hockey Federation, are pictured from September of this year before the league started. One of the main objectives is to create opportunities that will help the integration players with disabilities into the hockey family. The clubs of Egara, Atlètic Terrassa, CD Terrassa, Barça, Polo, Catalònia, Iluro and Júnior, play a very important part of this project.
ParaHockey is growing all over Europe and we are very proud of the Catalan Hockey Federation for their innovative and inspiring work. For more details on ParaHockey in Europe, read about our recent ParaHockey forum.
