11th February 2017: Day 2 Round up:
Match 9: Atletico CP – Inverleith 4:6
In the first game that counts for group D (relegation pool) brought very interesting hockey. Atletico started perfectly, leading 2:0 in the 9th minute. The Purple team from Edinburgh continued the pressure and after the 20 minutes they lead by one goal (3:2).
In the second half, the Portuguese team equalized twice (the second time with 6 minutes to go). After the captain (Salmond) scored for Inverleith lead 5:4, Atletico put six players on without a GK, but the Scots take advantage with a goal from Mackenzie. The final score was 6:4.
Match 10: RW Wettingen – Slagelse 6:5
The last match in Group B was for first point(s) in promotion pool. After a tied first half (2: 2), RW Wettingen starts frantically and after nine minutes of the second half the score was 5:2 for the Swiss champions. After another goal for the RWW and a lead of 6:3 (37′), Slagelse starts playing with a player with GK privileges and they managed to get two goals but that was not enough for a draw. It was an important win for RWW.
Match 11: Minsk – Bruxelles 1:3
The winner of pool A was decided after a very nervous match. Minsk had a great start to the match, after Korsik scored a goal in the 9th minute. Racing equalized in the 10th minute (Boon).
The real drama was in the second half. Minsk were down a player and Racing scored two goals in the same minute (24th). By the end of the match, despite a lot of chances for both teams, but the result didn’t change – 3:1 for Belgium side.
Match 12: Bohemians – Zelina 2:3
After a disappointing Friday, the host team finally delighted the fans with a victory on Saturday morning over Bohemians from the Czech Republic. Nowakowski and Premilovac scored and Zelina led 2:0 after six minutes. Marik scored the first goal for Czech team in a 11th minute and that was a result at the break.
The Zelina players tried to score another goal to breathe easier and Premilovac, after solo action increased the lead 3:1. Bohemians players did not give up, and with a man less, two minutes to the end, M. Richter scored. The last two minutes were only for those supporters of the home team with a strong heart! Fortunately for them, Zelina managed not to concede a goal and the final score was 2-3.
Match 13: Bohemians – Atletico CP 9:4
Bohemians Praha achieved their first victory of the tournament, 9: 4 vs Atletico Clube de Portugal. The first half was one sided, and ended 5: 0 for Bohemians.
After 7: 0 in the 27th minutes, Bohemians relaxed and Portuguese managed to score a few goals. The result will mean that Portugal will play next season in the Challenge I with no chance of staying in this division.
Match 14: Zelina – Inverleith 3:2
Croatian hockey will have a team in the Trophy in 2018 after Zelina won the match against Inverleith 3:2. On Saturday we saw two identical matches for Zelina. As in the first, the home team took 2:0 advantage (Lykov – 17, 20), and then Inverleith scored for 2:1 (S. Dick – 24). Five minutes before the end Premilovac scored for Zelina. A minute later, Wolski scored the second goal for Inverleith. In the last four minutes, both teams had chances to score, but a result remains the same. 3-2 for the home side.
Match 15: Minsk – Slagelse 10:4
An excellent performance by Minsk in their second game of the day. Artsiom Skorb was the best player of the game with four goals, the first four on the tournament for him. The Belarus team was faster and better organized than the Danish team. Therefore it’s not surprising they led by 7:1 after the first 20 minutes.
In the second half the game was more equal, both teams scored three goals and Minsk is waiting for Sunday and the last game against RW Wettingen with five points in their Pool.
Match 16: Racing Bruxelles – RW Wettingen
In the last match on Saturday spectators in Zelina saw the best two teams from pool A (Racing) and pool B (RW Wettingen) and the first draw of the Tournament! We have to wait for the Sunday to see who will be promoted to EuroHockey Indoor Club Cup next year.
In the 7th minute, RWW scored the first goal (B. Messerli), but Racing put in two goals in just two minutes (Cornillie – 15, Charlier – 17).
For the last goal of the match we waited till the 34th minute when Brunner scored the second goal for the Swiss team.
